2020 Report – Terego campers' year in figures

January 20, 2021News

It's not easy to take stock of 2020. It was a year that most of us would rather forget. But there was some positive news in the camping sector. Let's look at buying locally: local products have never been as popular as they were last year. Buying local has been at the heart of Terego's mission since we started in 2017. We were more proud and motivated than ever to introduce you to local producers, artisans, and other RV destinations in Canada.

Another positive aspect: RV camping was also very popular. We saw travel trailers, camper vans and plenty of other motorhomes on the roads! Many new members joined the Terego network last summer. The year also brought its share of challenges, especially for producers who had to invest and reorganize to be able to host you all safely. Terego's yearly figures report begins with this number:

1000

One thousand, as in a thousand thanks to the host producers for giving us such a warm welcome. Many thanks for your hard work. There are few things as noble as feeding people fresh, healthy, tasty products.

Many thanks also to our members for your desire to consume locally, to learn more about the artisans of the land and our heritage, and for your curiosity and your generosity.

OK, let's move on to the Terego camper balance sheet figures.

7528

Yes, there were 7528 overnight RV parking reservations made through the terego.ca platform in 2020. That's 80% more than in 2019. We closely monitored reservations to ensure that last-minute travellers could always find a spot for their motorhome or travel trailer. And it worked! In fact, on the busiest day of the season, Saturday September 5, 60% of the network's overnight RV parking spots were available. This was the first time that the busiest day of the year fell in September, rather than July or August. It just goes to show that RV travel habits were turned upside down in 2020!

214

The most visited Terego host producer had 214 bookings over the season. 214! Can you guess who it was? Here's a clue: what was the most popular destination in Quebec in 2020? The Gaspé Peninsula, of course. Bas-Saint-Laurent was also one of the regions that received the most Terego visitors. Our star producer is right on the border of these two regions. It was the Chouin'Art fishmonger in Sainte-Flavie. So many of you wanted to stock up on shrimp and smoked turbot mousse (mmmmm) before continuing around the Gaspé peninsula.

55%

But Terego campers didn't only visit the Gaspé peninsula last summer. Quite the opposite. 55% of members said in the end of season survey that they had visited at least one new region with Terego. We are very proud of this, because that's also our goal: to give you the opportunity to think outside the box and allow you to see the country in a different way. The Gaspé peninsula and Niagara Falls are wonderful, but there are plenty of other equally fantastic RV destinations to discover with Terego.

46

Our member with the most overnight RV parking reservations last year made 46 bookings. Impressive! They must be a real lover of good food and the great outdoors. In fact, many Terego members made more than 20 or even 30 RV stops throughout the season. We're happy that Terego allowed you to safely take road trips in Canada.

60%

Here is some information on the length of the RV parking spots: 60% of the RV parking spots in our network are large enough to accommodate RVs that are 55' and under. So whether you are travelling with a class A motorhome, with a travel trailer or with a fifth wheel, you won't have much trouble finding overnight RV parking spots that are big enough. It is important to us that our network is accessible to all types of recreational vehicles.
